“romantic” We stayed for two nights to celebrate our 41st anniversary. The cottage was right on the water, very clean, and decorated beautifully - glorious fireplace - which Nanae had already set up for us (thank you!). Though we did not cook - had we wanted to, everything was available in the kitchen. The whole setting was breathtaking - and though we were not fortunate enough to see any whales - we did see an otter and two magnificent eagles fly by. The whole island is a romantic destination. If I could have wished for just one thing, it would have been to have a hot tub so we could have "bubbled" under the incredible blanket of stars.

“It is magnificent” A living example of the designer's eye and the carpenter's skill. A place of quiet retreat and refreshment for the soul. A stout, warm shelter hidden in ancient woods. Starfire Cabin is all of these, but you will find more. Patrick Orton's photographs do it perfect justice. It is magnificent. We highly recommend a stay. We will be back.

“Lovely Retreat Space” Whether you want to organize a personal or group retreat, gather the family for a vacation, or spend a romantic wknd with your partner- this vacation home accommodates all. Living and dining spaces have gigantic picture windows with expansive views of Holmes Harbor and the mountains behind them. You can spend hours on the desk watching the tides coming and going, eagles being chased by ravens, or bask in the sun. It only takes a few steps to cross the lawn and you are on the beach, from which you can launch your boat, or collect sand dollars and shells. Oh, and before I forget: the house also comes with an extensive CD collection with selections from all genres-- and you can turn up the music and dance and sing to your heart's content. We had a soulful retreat at "Baby Beach" and left tons of good energy behind !

“Perfect little cabin for a get away.” We were very happy with our decision to stay in this cabin while on a fishing trip. Cute, clean, great location and all the comforts of home. Would recommend it to anyone wanting a quiet place to stay away from a town/city and soak up the natural beauty of the area. We intend to stay again very soon.

About Whistler

Nestled within British Columbia's pristine wilderness, Whistler is a perfect place to enjoy the great outdoors. For downhill skiing and snowboarding, the giant mountain at Whistler-Blackcomb is one of the best destinations on the continent. After hosting the 2010 Winter Olympics, the resort began to offer even more winter sports options, including ski jumps and bobsledding.

Nestled at the foot of a beautiful mountain, Whistler village is a classic American ski town, with plenty of great boutiques and restaurants. In the evenings, relax with a hot chocolate in your cozy apartment or cabin downtown, or go out on the town to hear live music at one of Whistler's many aprŠs-ski bars and pubs. For fun with the whole family, take an evening sleigh ride around the city, or get together for a day of ice-skating in the town's rink.

While winter is Whistler's high season, those who visit in the summer won't be disappointed. In Whistler, you can stroll past wildflowers on scenic hiking trails, swim in alpine lakes, horseback ride through the backcountry, or plan a day of adventure bungee jumping or ziplining in the wilderness.

When in Whistler, be sure to visit:

  • Lost Lake Park: This is an extensive and beautiful cross-country ski park, appropriate for beginner or advanced skiers.
  • Whistler Mountain Bike Park: In the summer, ski lifts will take you and your mountain bike to the top of Whistler Mountain where you'll find a wonderful network of nature trails.
  • Whistler Museum and Archives: If you love Whistler, you'll enjoy this small museum, which details the history of the village.
  • Maurice Young Millennium Place: Check out this community theater, a great place to unwind after a day on the slopes.
  • Vancouver: Just a quick drive from Whistler, Vancouver is British Columbia's biggest and most cosmopolitan city.

Whether you are planning to visit in the summer or winter, a vacation rental is the best way to make the most of your time in Whistler. If you plan to hit Whistler-Blackcomb, seek out a cozy condo, townhouse, or chalet rental near the slopes. A large villa with a hot tub and mountain views can be a great choice for the whole family too!
